Snow!

With snow up to my knees, it looks like gardening will be on hold for a long time. Even last winter there wasn't such a depth of snow. Just look at the compost bins with their swags of white - and to the right - the spade which had been left stuck in the soil of the vegetable garden!

Although it does look beautiful from the window, my view is across the river Derwent to Gibside, the garden is a series of bumps and mounds with my pots and shrubs somewhere under it all. Whilst feeding the birds I suddenly realised I was standing on my pots filled with Tulips. The plants will survive, I hope. The Cardoon, I bought at Chesters has collapsed with weight of the snow but the birds are managing to pull the seeds out of it.
